It was 185 weeks ago that I abandoned this account (to change my username since this one is of a character I made back in 2002 that I no longer use in any story and haven't since 2004) and this one is still getting pageviews and as many as 5-10 on some days?! Really. I'm surprised. It wasn't until about a month ago that my current account surpassed this one in pageviews!
I abandoned this account in late 2005 and didn't remember it until early 2009 when one of my friends somehow found out about this. Ahahaha... I didn't think anyone would! Boy was I embarrassed when I looked back at this old account, back when I couldn't draw people (or did really poorly), my artwork was mainly limited to anime-style cats that mostly looked the same, and how immature I was back then so I finally got to deleting all of my old journals and nearly all of my old deviations including my old "Insanity Force" comics which I seriously thought were good back then! I was just too embarrassed to keep them up any longer!
My main comic series on my current DA account is related to that (late) series in name and general premise only but it's waaaaaaaaay better with actual comedy, drama and I can draw people!
But I'm also going to be optimistic here and say that looking back at this wasn't something I intended to do, but it showed me how much I've improved in art skills, storytelling, sense of humor and as a person. And although my "Insanity Force" comics from 2005 failed miserably, at the very least they set the tone for all later Insanity Force attempts including the current and final rewrite. I did like some of the characters from the 2005 version and I don't want to see them completely fade into oblivion so I will try and have them live on in the new Insanity Force one way or another!
I believe that as artists we should be forward-thinking, striving to improve over time and with each new piece of work we make while still having some appreciation for our old works no matter how good or bad they are, to remember where we started as artists and to remember how much our works have evolved, which I think feels better than just trash-talking your old stuff outright.
I confess to being a bit hypocritical with the last statement I made since I deleted nearly all of my old deviations since I was too embarrassed to keep them up for any longer but I still have some appreciation for my old works, even my earliest deviations despite that.
I'm typing this up as a sense of closure to this old account, something I should have done 185 weeks ago. Oh well!
The deviant once known as turbokat says farewell, but may we meet again- now I'm the deviant Kattlanna!
